From June 2018 I work as a Research Associate in the School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow. In my postdoctoral position I study the interaction between biofilms and hydrodynamics in water systems using microscopy and programming, computational modelling and 3-D printing. I obtained my PhD from the School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow in November 2017. In my PhD I investigated the impact of physical and biological processes on the growth of biofilms in drinking water systems. The overall aim of my PhD was to contribute to a future design of management strategies regarding the control of biofilm formation in drinking water distribution systems. I obtained my MEng from the Department of Civil Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in April 2013. My MEng thesis was focused on the optimisation of a geothermal energy system using genetic algorithms.
